You can only imagine my confusion when I borrowed my roommates computer and saw that her last Google search was "how to eat a cupcake."
Hey Christina, if you really want to know how to eat a cupcake, just ask the expert...and by expert i mean me.
And then she explained that it was a fashion blog.....one that had nothing to do with cupcakes.
My heart sank.
My heart sank.
On a scale of 1 to boring this conversation was quickly heading towards zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, so she showed me one of the other blogs she follows religiously.
It's written by a 13 year old girl named Tavi.
We're always debating about what makes a blog legitimate, and it always seems to come down to the person that's writing...and that always seems to lead to the writer's credentials.
But who's to say that really matters? I'd even go so far as to say it's irrelevant. What matters is content.
If a 13 year old girl can become an elite in the fashion world and build a reputation off this blog, then who are we to argue that experience is what defines a blog's legitimacy?
In my pursuit of delicious foods, I've discovered scanwiches. Their claim to fame? "Scans of sandwiches for education and delight." Every sandwich lovers dream.
Unfortunately, it was yet another unsuccessful ftp. But not to worry, I'm getting closer to my ftp goals.
This time there was only a server error, not the usual spiel about not being guest accessible.
On a side note, I've discovered where I'm moving when I'm older.

Swaziland here I come.
I LOVE TAVI! She is so cute and love how she's a fashionista only at 13. But I do agree, we are so confused when it comes to knowing what is credible and not just persona talk.
ReplyDeleteI think we are accustomed to being told who is credible and who isn't. These days, that's no longer a luxury we have. We have to be savvy about the content, the context and the motivations of the producer.
ReplyDeleteI think that's one of the reasons that things like "scanwiches" (brilliant, btw) are so attractive... they don't require us to expend any effort to understand them.
